About Tapestry

Tapestry is an independently designed and developed Canadian photo-sharing app created in British Columbia. It provides families and trusted groups with a simple, private and ad-free way to share photos and preserve experiences together.

Why we created Tapestry

Tapestry started with our own family.

Our dad was getting older and living in a care home, and we wanted an easy way to continually share photos of his grandchildren growing up. He wasn’t particularly comfortable with technology or social media, so it needed to be extremely simple—especially on his TV, where he could easily enjoy the Shows and new photos we created for him. Privacy was equally important. These were personal family photographs, including photos of our children and grandchildren. We didn’t want to broadcast them on social media, expose them to advertising and algorithms, or make them publicly available for search engines and AI systems to scrape. We wanted private photo albums built around the people and experiences they belonged to.

That idea became Tapestry.

Today, a Show might be an ongoing family album, a vacation with friends, a birthday, a family gathering or an adventure shared by a particular group. Each has its own invited contributors and viewers, and new photos can be added as the story continues. Instead of sending photos individually through texts where they can become scattered, deleted or forgotten, Tapestry gives those experiences a lasting place where the people involved can continue enjoying them together.
